Rudolph Botha

Joined the industry in 1976

Rudolph was born in Somerset East in 1953. He matriculated from Gill College in 1971. After a year in the Defence Force he attended Stellenbosch University where he completed his B Comm degree in 1975. He did his articles with Coopers & Lybrand, Port Elizabeth (C.T.A part time at U.P.E) and qualified as a chartered accountant is 1979. Rudolph joined GBG in 1981 and became a partner/director in 1982. Rudolph enjoys part time farming (cattle), cycling and reading in his spare time.

David Gowar

Joined the industry in 1981

David was born in Somerset East in 1959. He attended Gill College for his high school years  after which he did his compulsory  military training in Bloemfontein. He studied at the University of Port Elizabeth (now NMU) and completed his articles at Strelitz and Mitchell in Port Elizabeth. He joined the firm in 1988 as a manager and was appointed a partner/director on 1 March 1989.

Tertius van der Walt

Joined the industry in 1996

Tertius was born in Middelburg, in the Eastern Cape, in 1971 and matriculated from Union High School in Graaff-Reinet in 1989. He attended the University of Port Elizabeth where he obtained his B Comm and B Comm (Hons) degrees, he also obtained a B Comm (Hons) CTA degree from UNISA in 1997. He started his articles at Gerber Botha & Gowar in Cradock during January 1996 and became a partner of Gerber Botha & Gowar in 2004. Tertius enjoys the outdoors and has a part-time farming enterprise on their family farm in the Steynsburg district.

Lafras Moolman

Joined the industry in 2004

Lafras was born in Port Elizabeth in 1979. He matriculated from Vaalharts High School in 1997 and attended Stellenbosch University where he completed his B Comm Financial Accounting degree in 2001. He did his articles at Enslins Kimberley Incorporated and qualified as a charted accountant in 2006. Lafras joined GBG in 2007 and became a director in 2010. He qualified as a B-BBEE auditor in 2015. Lafras enjoys mountain biking, golfing and reading in his spare time.

Ronette Marais

Joined the industry in 2008

Ronette was born in Port Elizabeth in 1985. She matriculated from Gill College in 2003 and attended NMMU (UPE) where she completed her B Com accounting degree in 2006. She started her articles at Moore Stephens but transferred to GBG for the final 2 years and qualified as a charted accountant in 2010. Ronette joined GBG in 2009 and became a director in 2015. Ronette enjoys any outdoor activity and spending time with her family.

Marieke le Roux

Joined the industry in 2004

Marieke was born in Fort Beaufort in 1981, where she matriculated from Winterberg Agricultural High School in 1999. She attended Stellenbosch University and in 2003 she obtained her B Comm (Taxation) degree. She joined GBG Somerset East in 2004 for her articles and completed her B Compt honours degree part-time through Unisa. During 2008 she qualified as a charted accountant. In 2010 she was transferred to the new GBG branch in Middelburg. Marieke’s enjoys reading in her spare time.

Ralie Blignaut

Joined the industry in 1993

Ralie was born in Colesberg and matriculated in Burgersdorp in 1989. In the following year she embarked on her tertiary education and enrolled at the University of Orange Free State where she completed her B. Compt degree in 1992, and her B. Compt (Hons) degree the year thereafter. She completed her articles at Gerber Botha & Gowar (Cradock) Inc. in 1996. During this period she successfully passed her qualifying examinations and was accepted as a member of the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants. In 1999 she was appointed as director in Gerber Botha & Gowar and took the reins at the Graaff-Reinet Practice. Ralie is a member of the Independent Regulatory Board for Auditors and practices as a chartered accountant and registered auditor. She is also a long standing member of various Municipal Audit Committees. She enjoys spending time with her family and are involved in various community development projects. She also enjoys cultural activities, camping and reading.
